PADI 101: OPEN WATER DIVE COURSE
PADI Online Course
What does it cover?
The PADI Open Water Diver course is, by far, the world's most popular scuba certification course. Millions of people have started diving as certified PADI Open Water Divers. Learning to scuba dive requires both knowledge development (facts, principles, concepts) and motor procedures (skills, techniques, methods). The PADI Open Water Diver Course online provides the knowledge development portion you need. You develop the remaining skills by actually diving with a PADI Instructor at your local PADI Dive Center or Resort. > more

First Week
PADI Open Water Certificate
During the first phase of your PADI Open Water Diver scuba certification, you develop an understanding of the basic principles of scuba diving. You learn things like how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best scuba gear and what to consider when planning dives.
At the end of the course, you’ll take a quiz that makes sure you have all the key concepts and ideas down. You and your instructor will review anything that you don’t quite understand until everything is clear.
With the confined water dives you will develop basic scuba skills by scuba diving in a pool or body of water with pool-like conditions. Here you will learn everything from setting up your scuba gear to how to easily get water out of your scuba mask without surfacing. You will also practice some emergency skills, like sharing air or replacing your scuba mask.
After your confined water dives, you will continue learning during four open water dives with your PADI Instructor at a dive site. This is where you fully experience the underwater adventure - at the beginner level, of course!
Your first week in St. Lucia also includes a fun Beach BBQ which leaves the other nights open to experience the many restaurants within walking distance from your hotel.
Second Week
4 Advanced Open Water Diving Experiences & 2 Island Adventures
After an intense week of diving you will engage in a mixed program where you will venture out as a certified diver to discover new dive sites with 4 more tank dives as well as to have the opportunity to explore St. Lucia’s tropical landscape, culture and people.
The additional dives will allow you to practice all of what you have learned in your course with special highlights such as your first night dive! Enjoy the sunset ride to the Anse La Raye wall where you first dive for about 45 minutes and afterwards have the opportunity to enjoy the sumptuous local food at the weekly street fair in the quaint village of Anse La Raye.
For one of the Island Adventure days you will be taken on a scenic drive through banana plantations, tropical vegetations and traditional fishing villages to the former capital of Soufriere in the south of the island. There you will visit the Botanical Gardens with its natural waterfall, followed by a local lunch. Before returning to the hotel you will visit the Sulphur Springs, the only Dive-In Volcano in the Caribbean.
The second Island Adventure excursion that we have planned for you will take you to St. Lucia’s Rainforest where you experience a whole new perspective of nature. A tram gondola glides through the treetops and above the rainforest where views are just magnificent. Optional is also the thrill of gliding and traversing on zip lines between rainforest trees such as Gommiers, Magnolias, Ficus and Chatanniers.
The Anse La Raye farewell dinner completes two weeks of excitement and adventure where you will have experienced St.Lucia's Island life from above and under, land and sea.
