OW 201: OPEN WATER DIVING

First Week
5 Day (10 dives) Diving Experience for Advanced Divers
Discover the mesmerizing beauty of St. Lucia’s underwater world for a unique and unforgettable diving experience. All dives will be done in the marine park, enjoy ten dives in some of St. Lucia’s most beautiful dive spots.
Anse Chastanet, a protected marine park, is known as one the most dramatic places for diving on the island. The Anse Chastanet reef, located at the southwestern part of the island, is in relatively shallow waters and can be accessed directly from Anse Chastanet beach. The further out into the water you go, the deeper the coral formations. The reef wall falls away from about 20 feet down to about 140 feet, and continues on from the bay until it reaches Grand Caille, which is near the harbor of Soufriere.
For some of the best wall and drift dives on St. Lucia, divers should head for Anse La Raye. Located behind a shallow reef wall, this dive site contains several interesting formations like gigantic boulders at the slope of the wall.
The Coral Gardens are situated at the base of the majestic peaks of Gros Piton. Above and beneath the surface, the Coral Gardens are a wondrous sight to behold.
Fairy Land is located at Anse Chastanet, which is a plateau that slopes from about 40 to 60 feet into the ocean. The corals and sponges here are clean because of the strong ocean currents, making them excellent subjects for underwater photography.
Caribbean Travel & Life magazine named The Key Hole Pinnacles one of the top"10 Best Dive Sites."
One of St. Lucia's most popular wreck dives is the Lesleen M Shipwreck. The Lesleen M is a 165-foot freighter that was purposely sunk by the Department of Fisheries in 1986 in order to make an artificial reef. The ship sits upright in about 60 feet of water close to Anse Cochon on the island's west coast, a few miles to the south of Marigot Bay.
Second Week
4 Open Water Diving Experiences & 2 Island Adventures
After an intense week of diving you will engage in a mixed program where you will venture out to sea for 4 more tank dives as well as to enjoy the opportunity to explore St. Lucia’s tropical landscape, culture and people.
One highlights of the week will definitely be the night dive after a sunset ride to the Anse La Raye wall where you first dive for about 45 minutes and afterwards have the opportunity to enjoy the sumptuous local food at the weekly street fair in the quaint village of Anse La Raye.
For one of the Island Adventure days you will be taken on a scenic drive through banana plantations, tropical vegetations and traditional fishing villages to the former capital of Soufriere in the south of the island. There you will visit the Botanical Gardens with its natural waterfall, followed by a local lunch. Before returning to the hotel you will visit the Sulphur Springs, the only Dive-In Volcano in the Caribbean.
The second Island Adventure excursion that we have planned for you will take you to St. Lucia’s Rainforest where you experience a whole new perspective of nature. A tram gondola glides through the treetops and above the rainforest where views are just magnificent. Optional is also the thrill of gliding and traversing on zip lines between rainforest trees such as Gommiers, Magnolias, Ficus and Chatanniers.
The Anse La Raye farewell dinner completes two weeks of excitement and adventure where you will have experienced St.Lucia's Island life from above and under land, and sea.
